Quality Assurance
and how does it benefit our Customers?

 

No food processing organization can function successfully without quality assurance. Quality assurance is absolutely vital to a successful operation in today’s food industry. It is an essential discipline needed to guarantee a safe, wholesome fresh product. From the growing, harvesting, packing and shipping of our mushrooms, our customers can be assured that every precaution has been taken to insure product excellence. Quality Assurance can be defined as a strategic management function which establishes policies related to quality, adopts programs to meet the established goals and provides confidence that these measures are being effectively applied. All these planned and systematic actions are necessary to provide adequate confidence that our mushrooms will satisfy our quality requirements.

How does the Quality Assurance department of Monterey Mushrooms Inc., insure that our customers are receiving safe, wholesome and fresh product? We establish the following criteria:

  • Standards are established for the growing and harvesting of our mushrooms to yield the most wholesome fresh product available.

  • We set standards to determine that our fresh mushrooms are kept at the proper temperature of 34-38 F. during packing and shipping.

  • We employ metal detection equipment on all our sliced mushroom lines to insure against foreign material.

  • We employ high quality equipment to insure that the weights of our mushrooms meet and exceed the government standards.

  • We test our mushrooms for microbiological properties and establish low tolerances.

  • We establish personnel hygiene standards.

  • Strict equipment sanitation and pesticide standards are met.

  • We have written Quality Assurance manuals for each of our facilities and have assigned specific personnel to facilitate these standards.

  • Recall procedures have been established for product traceability.

  • We continue to train our employees on the most current food safety requirements and regulations.

  • We have established internal audits and third party audits to insure that each facility adheres to our policies and procedures.

All these programs have been written to insure that our customers and consumers receive the most wholesome, safe, fresh mushrooms available.
